I recently finished a mini series of videos on the West England Bylines Youtube Channel, which had a look at the changes the Boundary Commission of England made to the constituencies in our area.

In it, I found that there are a number of constituencies in our area where the Conservative seats might not be as secure as they were in past elections.

One of the constituencies that polls predict to flip to Labour is the constituency of Stroud in Gloucestershire.

In the latest video for the channel, I caught up with Dr Simon Opher, the Labour candidate who will stand against Siobhan Baillie, the current Stroud Conservative MP.

Dr. Opher is a local GP, operating in Cam & Dursley. I asked him about what his main election targets will be to ensure people will vote for him in 2024.

As a GP, the crisis of the NHS is near and dear to his heart. He hopes to help Labour fix the now 7.5 million long waiting lists and put in place support for training new National Health Service staff as well as retaining existing staff.

He also seeks to strengthen our environmental laws, with a ‘Right to Roam’ law for England, similar to that in Scotland. He wants to get rid of pollution in our rivers and see more Green Energy in the UK to get us off Fossil Fuels.

All this and more discussed in WEB’s latest video, please check it out below and subscribe to the channel for free.
