Politics in Bristol is shaping up to have an interesting year. Will the Bristol mayor survive?
Last Tuesday, the mouncil voted on a motion for a new referendum about the abolition on the role of Mayor of Bristol. It passed with 41 votes in favour to 24 against.
The role was first created in 2012 after a legally binding, city wide referendum voted for the creation of such a role, with George Ferguson elected the first Mayor of Bristol shortly after.
But now, a decade later, the opposition parties have called into question the continuing need for the role.
The video below has all the information about who’s on which side and what they all have to say about the issue, all in a new ‘Bitesize News’ format at West England Bylines.
